Kishk 500g - Chtaura Dairy
It is prepared from sheep or cow’s milk, dried for several days in closed pots, providing the kishk with a long-lasting flavour and distinguished taste. Kishk provides an excellent source of all the amino acids, vitamins A, B1, B2, B12, E and PP. The protein content is high with respect to this natural product.
The name “Kishk” originates from the Persian word “kashk”, referring to a mix of cracked wheat and cracked barley. An ancient dish common in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and Turkey, that has been a staple in the Middle Eastern culture. Available from the Lebanese Food Emporium, Kishk is made from cracked wheat (Burghal) fermented with cow’s milk or yogurt. The powdery mixture is cooked up into a delicious umami-blasting porridge best eaten for breakfast. Undoubtedly one of Lebanon’s most loved delicacies, food products of thousands of years of culinary refinement, “kishk” equals the world’s most renowned dairy products.
Characterized as a fermented milk product, “kishk” is made of bulgur – cracked parboiled wheat – mixed with either milk or yogurt.
